Overview

Aerospace Flight Control Engineering focuses on designing, analyzing, and implementing automatic and manual control systems that maintain aircraft and spacecraft stability, improve maneuverability, and enable precise flight operations. Flight Control Engineers develop control algorithms, autopilot systems, and feedback mechanisms that allow aerospace vehicles to safely respond to pilot commands, mission requirements, and environmental changes.

What They Do

Design flight control systems, develop control algorithms, analyze aircraft stability, tune controllers, integrate sensors and actuators, test autopilot systems, and ensure aircraft and spacecraft maintain desired flight paths and attitudes.

Daily Responsibilities

Develop mathematical control models, design feedback controllers, perform stability analysis, simulate flight conditions, tune PID/LQR/MPC controllers, integrate flight control computers, analyze sensor data, conduct Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, validate autopilot performance, support flight testing, prepare technical documentation.
