Aerospace Computational Engineering (CAE) focuses on using advanced computer-based engineering methods to analyze, simulate, and optimize aerospace systems before physical manufacturing and testing. CAE Engineers use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), thermal simulation, structural analysis, and multiphysics methods to solve complex aerospace design challenges.
What They Do
Perform virtual testing of aircraft, spacecraft, engines, and aerospace components; analyze structural strength, airflow, heat transfer, vibrations, and system performance; optimize designs using computational tools; and support engineering decisions through simulation results.
Daily Responsibilities
Create simulation models, prepare CAD geometry, generate meshes, define boundary conditions, run CFD/FEA simulations, analyze results, validate models, perform optimization studies, troubleshoot simulation problems, compare simulation with test data, prepare technical reports, support design improvements.
