Overview
Aeroelasticity Engineering focuses on the interaction between aerodynamic forces, structural flexibility, and flight dynamics. Aeroelasticity Engineers analyze and prevent phenomena such as flutter, divergence, control reversal, gust response, and dynamic instability to ensure aircraft, UAVs, helicopters, launch vehicles, and spacecraft remain stable, safe, and efficient throughout their operating envelope.
What They Do
Analyze aeroelastic behavior, predict flutter speed, optimize wing flexibility, evaluate structural deformation under aerodynamic loads, perform coupled CFD-FEA simulations, validate aeroelastic models, support aircraft certification, and improve aircraft performance through aeroelastic optimization.
Daily Responsibilities
Perform flutter analysis, conduct modal and aeroelastic simulations, evaluate wing deformation, analyze gust loads, optimize structural stiffness, validate aeroelastic models, support wind tunnel testing, analyze flight test data, prepare certification reports, collaborate with aerodynamics, structures, and flight control teams.
